The School Day
Children arrive at school from 8.45 am and walk straight into their classrooms. Doors are closed at 8.55am, and any child arriving after this time will be recorded as late. They will need to enter school through the Office, where they will need to sign the late book and confirm what they are having for lunch.
Pupils enjoy a morning and an afternoon break, and lunch between 12 and 1 p.m. Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils finish at 3:25 pm, with Years 3-6 shortly afterwards, at 3:30 p.m.
Holidays and Requests for Absence
From September 2013, the Government withdrew the right for head teachers to grant 10 days holiday leave to children during the school year. The new guidelines are very specific that absence from school may only now be granted by the head teacher in ‘exceptional’ circumstances. Holidays can only be taken in term time in exceptional circumstances, for example because parents are not permitted by their work to take time off in school holidays. The head teacher can only consider applications made using the ‘School Application for Absence Form’ which is available from the school office and should be submitted two calendar weeks ahead of the date requested for absence.
You should notify the School about any absence as soon as you are aware of it. If your child is sick please ring the office before 8.30am and leave a message.
