Here are our photos from World Book Day 2017. We had lots of fun reading books and poems by Dr Seuss. We read Oh The Places You'll Go and wrote about the places we'd like to visit. Then we watched Green Eggs and Ham and created freeze frames of our favourite scenes. We also explored what we could see in an illustration, talked about our favourite books, and made Dr Seuss inspired masks.

Robins World Book Day

The book that we are exploring for World Book Day in Robins is the gruesome Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl. We started the day by testing our book knowledge with the 'Big Bang Book Quiz!'. Then we learned some of the Revolting Rhymes by heart by creating actions and created our own freeze frames of our favourite scenes. We have explored illustrations by Quentin Blake and identified ten features of his drawings that make them unique. In the afternoon, we created Quentin Blake style illustrations and used water colours to give colour to our drawings. We ended the day with ten minute challenge to 'discover new things from a book'; our general knowledge has just been given a big boost!

We had a great day on World Book Day this year in Squirrels. We used the book 'Aliens Love Underpants' as our stimulus for learning throughout the day. We made spaceship biscuits, built spaceships in our deconstructed role play, designed our own aliens and had a lot of fun designing pants for the aliens!
